Frequently Asked Questions about our Licensed NLP and Hypnotherapy training Courses

What is NLP?

 Hypnotherapy & NLP Training Course

Co-created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in the mid 1970s the field of NLP is constantly developing and learning about excellence through the models Bandler and Grinder made of great communicators.

They initially studied three successful therapists, Fritz Perls (the founder of Gestalt therapy), Virginia Satir (the founder of Family Therapy) and Milton Erickson (the leading exponent of Modern Hypnotherapy) and using an effective way of asking precise questions found out from them how they were able to get such consistently good results.  Whilst initially modelling these people, over the course of the next few years they modelled many different people from sportsmen and women to marksmen and businessmen, and as such started to coin the phrase that NLP was being able to model the structure of excellence.

Linguistic

These are the language and other non-verbal communication systems through which our neural representations are coded, ordered and given meaning.  This includes:

  • Pictures
  • Sounds
  • Feelings
  • Tastes
  • Smells
  • Words (Internal Dialogue)

Programming

The ability to really discover and utilise the prorammes we run (our communication to ourselves and others) in our neurological systems to achieve our specific and desired outcomes.

In other words, NLP is how to use the lanquage of the mind to consistently achieve our specific and desired outcomes.

How can NLP be of use to me ?

NLP can be used to change unwanted or limiting beliefs, get rid of fears, phobias, panic attacks, anxiety, depression.  As a performance enhancer it can effect change in sport, public speaking, confidence, motivation.

In business NLP can be used for team building, stress management, communication skills, presentation skills, succession management etc.

In a therapeutic environment NLP can be an extremely useful change tool to compliment existing skills, making your practice stand out from the others.

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind you experience every day, just before you go to sleep, as soon as you wake up, when you are watching TV, when you are daydreaming, when you are immersed in reading a good book, or when your mind is so focused on some inner experience that the external environment begins to fade away.  It is widely accepted as an excellent method by which we may access our inner potential.  The state of mind referred to may be brought about either by oneself, self hypnosis or with the help of another person.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is distinctive in that it attempts to address the client’s subconscious mind.  In practice, the Hypnotherapist often enlists the power of the client's own imagination and may utilise a wide range of techniques from the indirect approach using metaphor to the use of direct suggestion for beneficial change.

What is Hypnotherapy used for?

Hypnotherapy is particularly useful in helping people to deal with stress and anxiety related conditions such as panic attacks, phobias, motivation and other emotional problems like depression, lack of confidence and self esteem, etc.

Hypnotherapy can also help you change unwelcome habits such as smoking, nail biting, and is widely used to help with weight management and body image.  Hypnotherapy has become very popular at the moment as an alternative to having a Gastric Band Operation, the unconscious mind is hypnotised to go through the process with out surgical intervention.

What is hypnotherapy?

June O Driscoll and Paul McKenna

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind you experience every day, just before you go to sleep, as soon as you wake up, when you are watching TV, when you are daydreaming, when you are immersed in reading a good book, or when your mind is so focused on some inner experience that the external environment begins to fade away.

This altered state of consciousness makes it possible for the hypnotherapist to work on changing behaviours or emotions which have become problematic. For example, if you have to prepare for a presentation and feel overwhelmingly nervous about it, you can learn how to access and strengthen your ability to relax and apply that to the situation of making a presentation. Once you know how to do that, then it becomes easier to "decide" how you would like to feel and react in a given situation.

What is hypnotherapy best for?

Hypnotherapy is particularly useful in helping people to deal with stress and anxiety related conditions such as panic attacks, phobias, motivation and other emotional problems like depression, lack of confidence and self esteem, etc.

Hypnotherapy can also help you change unwelcome habits such as smoking, nail-biting, and is widely used to help with weight management and body image.
